In My Mailbox (11)

First off, hi there! Welcome to Paranormal Indulgence. You're just in time for In My Mailbox. Hooray! If you know all about it, then just scroll down. For those who are asking just what that is, allow me to explain. Basically what happens is every week a bunch of bloggers participate in this weekly meme hosted over at The Story Siren called In My Mailbox by creating a vlog where they talk about the books they got during the week (or you can just do a regular post about all the things you've got). And the cool thing is it isn't just limited to purchased books, it could be any books, like books from the library. And more, it doesn't even have to be books that you got. You can just talk about random things you bought or your findings of the week. It's a pretty neat meme, if you ask me. And with a bunch of us joining in on it, it's a great possibility that all of us will get to connect.

Of course, none of this would even be possible without Kristi @ The Story Siren, whose vlogs serve as a constant inspiration for me on a daily basis when book blogging.

Want to participate? Well, okay, just click this http://www.thestorysiren.com/ and you're all set. Scroll down and you'll see the In My Mailbox post of the week, with a vlog at its center and a Mr. Linky below, which you must sign. Please, please watch the vlog. They're always really good. And take a peek at her book shelf in the background while you're at it. It's so, so gorgeous. You'll see.

Anyway, enough chat-chit, time to share my findings...

Library Freebies

A bookish deity must have been thrilled with me, because earlier in the week, I got eleven free books, three of which I gave to my sisters. I think it was, like, Tuesday, and I walk into my school library. Instantly, the librarian--she and I are pals--walks me over to some boxes, which I came to discover were filled with brand new books. She says to me, "Help yourself, before everyone else comes. Just got them in." Imagine my elation, my fellow book readers and book lovers, when I saw these shiny  new books were all YA/MG (at least that's what I'm assuming most of these to be) and very interesting-looking. Here's what I picked up for myself:

They all sound great, and I'm super excited to get to these! Now, some, I realize now, are sequels or installments to entire series. But, do I care? Absolutely not. I'll still be reading every single on of these. And who knows, if it's part of a series, perhaps, if I like the one I picked up, I'll go back and read the rest? We shall see.

Gift

My next book to share with you, is one of my most treasured novels:

MacGregors #1
This was the very first Nora Roberts novel I'd ever read, back when I was just starting to get into adult romance novels. My mom's so sweet; she came home one day after just leaving Kmart and gave me this, saying, 'This is the first book of mine I ever let you read, and you loved it. I just wanted you to have your own copy.' The way to my heart is with books, and I just wanted to burst into tears. Instead, I settled for planting a huge kiss on my mom's cheek and giving her a fierce hug. I love her! Someday I hope to collect every single Nora Roberts book out there... Anyway, isn't that cover just divine, lovely? This is a 2-in-1, encasing Serena & Caine MacGregor's stories called, Playing the Odds and Tempting Fate. This is part of my all-time favorite series, the MacGregors. Here are summaries that I need to share:

Playing the Odds

"The cards were stacked, though neither of them knew it. Serena MacGregor's father left nothing to chance when he sent Justin Blade -- part Comanche and all gambler -- on a Caribbean cruise. His daughter was evading her responsibility to produce grandchildren by working as a blackjack dealer on the CELEBRATION. Odds were they'd meet.

Serena's father had his hopes riding on what would happen when they did. Win, lose or draw, they were meant for each other, proving indisputably in this case that lucky in cards did not mean unlucky in love."

Tempting Fate
"The MacGregor clan was closely knit. Caine MacGregor's sister had married Diana Blade's brother, but the emotions Caine felt meeting Diana had nothing to do with family -- everything to do with desire.

Caine was something of a ladies' man, a demon in the courtroom and in the bedroom. Diana was an ice princess, a perfect product of her Bostonian upbringing -- totally at odds with her Comanche blood. It was fate. Caine knew he was the one to release the passionate woman within. Fate was meant to be tempted."

So, that's all I've got for In My Mailbox, BUT...
 I'M NOT DONE YET!

To accompany this week's In My Mailbox, I've decided to create a companion feature: In My Kindle. I've noticed that a lot of us book bloggers and book readers have gotten some type of e-reader, especially Kindles, which I'm happy to say I'm a proud owner of! So, why not make a feature that can go along with In My Mailbox for us ebook lovers? That's right, a whole feature where you can discuss nothing but the ebooks you bought (or won, or got for free)!

Interested? Great! View my pilot post for In My Kindle

A very nice mailbox and more importantly a very nice friend at the library and such a kind and thoughtful Mom too, lucky you Ash and happy reading!

I first read Eragon by Paolini and then saw the movie, have the whole series except the last release thus far and it is great fantasy adventure reading!

My Mailbox contains all the books that have come in since last post in late January..

@Jackie,
I know, I must be blessed or something! Thanks for that! And thanks for stopping by the blog!

I didn't know there was a movie... I'll definitely have to get through the books first though, otherwise I won't if I watch the movie first...

@Brittany,
Absolutely. I'm so thankful for being able to get so much. :)

@The Slowest Bookworm,
I have to admit that they're pretty foreign to me as well. But, I'm looking forward to reading them just the same. Thanks!

@Tara,
I don't often like to read books out of order, but I will if I must. Thanks! I'll be sure to check out your IMM, don't worry. ;)

Same to everyone, if I haven't already.
