Most Wanted:
If you've read my review and/or some of my favorites list, you'll know that Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier is one of them. It's got three major key words that usually draw me into a book: 1) time-travel 2) love/hate romance and 3) adventure, and blends them in the most perfectly attractive way.
Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier
Henry Holt/Macmillan, October 30, 2012
Do not read if you haven't read Ruby Red!
Gwen’s life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve. In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle really mean. At least Gwen has plenty of help.
Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.
Why I Want to Read It: The ending of Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier is thrilling, in that it isn't a cliffhanger but more of an long-awaited moment that is the sexiest cherry on top of a wonderful story. There's also a sneak preview of Sapphire Blue at the back of the book, and I couldn't help but want to bang my fists against something in my frustration because I didn't have the rest of the next story. It feels like I've been waiting forever! All I know is that I'm a big fan of the romance between Gwen and Gideon, and I just want to be a part of what happens between them as we progress through their story!

Waaaait... TIME TRAVEL? MAGIC WORDS. How have I never even HEARD of this? It sounds AMAZERING! And I haven't even read the first! WANNNNT!
Ooooh, and Before I Fall? *prods* read it and convince me to :D
Before I Fall and Starcrossed are great books! You should totally shake the dust from them and read them.
WHY haven't I heard of Sapphire Blue already?! It sounds AMAZING. :D
I think many girls would kill for the ultimate prom dress on the cover of Sapphire Blue :)

Oh, man, I can't wait for Sapphire Blue! Ruby Red was one of my faves, too. The writing was stellar! (Plus, I'm hoping for more kissing. ;P)
- Lauren
I can't wait for Sapphire Blue either! I always enjoy time travel stories, and Ruby Red definitely left me wanting more. I'm really excited for Spell Bound too, that series never fails to make me laugh. Also, I love Cal. Just saying:)
I pre-ordered Spell bound, but hell, the paperback is coming 2 weeks later!! I was so so angry when I saw that 3 days ago grrrr!! :P :)
YES! I loved Ruby Red! I thought it was just such a sweet, fun story and I know what you mean about the excerpt from Sapphire Blue... I'm excited! Gwen and Gideon are completely adorable and TIME TRAVEL is enough to make me want to read anything.
Oh, and DUDE. Read Before I Fall sooooon! Lauren Oliver is one of my all-time favourite authors and BIF is stunning <3
Before I Fall is wonderful, I actually cried at it and that never usually happens. I have had some books on my TBR pile for over a year, at the minute though I only have 15 books in my TBR pile so I should get most of them read fairly soon (unless I just buy loads more which usually happens!)
I really liked Ruby Red too. I thought it was a lot of fun to read so I'm waiting for Sapphire Blue too. I liked Before I Fall, but I haven't read anything else on your list. :)
I can't wait for Spell Bound, that series is always fun. And Pretty Crooked looks really cool too.
On my TBR right now is Angelfire, Witchlanders, and The Scorpio Races. I own all of them but I still haven't read them yet for some reason.
EXACTLY. They are magic words. I don't know! That's so weird. I've got to stop assuming everyone reads the same things as me *LOL* Let me just tell you, Ruby Red, the first book, is absolutely fabulous.
And I will be reading it very soon, and will totally make it my mission to get you to read it if I happen to love it *grins*
I plan to. I have them both as library books right now, but they're due dates are looming closer and closer and it's SO MUCH PRESSURE when you have such a HUGE reading pile to get through. *sigh*
Oh, you should totally read Ruby Red, the first book. If you like time-travel, a beautifully ordinary, under-appreciated heroine, and a sexy, hot and cold love interest instigating a love/hate romance, you will TOTALLY love this series.
AHH. The ending! I'm begging for the smooches and touches and *dies* Oh, GIDEON.
Time travel is one of my favorite type of books, and Ruby Red just nailed that part of it, made it so much fun. Spell Bound! Rachel Hawkins breathes out the funny, every word she writes is hilarious. *GASP* *clutches heart* You DO NOT. You can't, Jenny. *backs away slowly*
AHHH, I wish I had the fundage to pre-order the book. 2 weeks?!? Oh, THAT SUCKS. Maybe it'll be moved up as it approaches the release date...?
RIGHT. I can't believe they gave away so much in that excerpt... AND THEN leave us hanging. The ending got me all fluttery and fuzzy inside, then they have to go ahead and give us that excerpt. I have been dying of ANTICIPATION like you wouldn't believe. Gwen + Gideon foreva, bro!
I will, I promise. I love Lauren Oliver as well, and wouldn't want to miss out on any young adult book she writes.
Reaaally? CRIED? I love emotional books. I'm now itching to pick it up.
You only have fifteen? You are amazing. A reading wizard. :D
*fist-bumps* WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE? Sapphire Blue is taking SO LONG TO GET HERE. I need it bads. And a lot of people really like Before I Fall and so I feel like I'm missing out.
Oh, yes, Spell Bound... *sigh* I wish I could own it immediately. I'm crossing my fingers that my library acquires both Spell Bound and Pretty crooked.
Angelfire? By Courtney Allison Moulton? I liked it, though not enough to feel an urgency to read Wings of the Wicked, BUT I totally want to meet up with Witchlanders and The Scorpio Races. LOOOOVE fantasy books. And you own all of them? You must have quite the bookshelf ;)
Ruby Red. Noted. *runs off to Goodreads*
I liked Ruby Red as a whole, but I was not happy where it was left off. :/ I want to read Sapphire Blue eventually but I don't know if I'll be rushing out to buy it. Good luck on your reading pile.
This sounds fantastic! So glad you shared :)

OoOooo...I can't wait for Sapphire Blue!!
I HAVE GOT TO READ RUBY RED! I've been hearing great things about it and with the gorgeous cover of Sapphire Blue, it's obviously a must-acquire-now-now-now sorta read. Eeee and me wants Spellbound! I completely forgot it was released this month until I saw some posts on it yesterday. Fail Brodie.
And you MUST read Before I Fall soon. I was a sobbing mess when I fininished *sniffles* <3
Oh my gosh, this sounds so cool! Time travel, romance AND adventure? Love it!
You haven't read Before I Fall either - I thought I was the only one!! I'm looking forward to reading Spellbound soon. Love that series - so fun!
Sapphire Blue needs to get here ASAP. I need to know what happens next with Gwen and Gideon! Seriously. October is TOO FAR AWAY.
I also still need to read Pretty Crooked and Spellbound, but I should be getting SB from my library soon, and I actually have Starcrossed sitting on my floor right now! YAY! Before I Fall is awesome, though! I hope you get to read it soon :-)
I think its more the fact I can't afford many books, I got loads for Christmas and my birthday which was 4 days later so I had quite a few at the start of the year, I do lots of amazon preorders so they turn up in dribs and drabs, I'm not really a reading wizard, I set myself the target of 100 a year and I just missed it last year.
Before I Fall made me cry at the end and I think it might be Lauren Olivers writing as I remember crying at Delirium aswell. I havn't cried at many books, those 2 spring to mind aswell as the final Harry Potter, Mockingjay (Buttercup scene, sob!!) and a book called Hate List by Jennifer Brown.
Aw, really, I thought it was pretty sweet. I definitely will be rushing out to buy it, though I hate that they've changed the covers on me. I loved the cover of the first book and then they redid them and now they won't match. :(
Oh, I hope you pick up the series then :D
And great! I like your blog as well.
*high fives* Definitely. THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME.
YOU HAVEN'T READ IT YET? *gasps* What is wrong with you? Why have you ignored this book? It is amazing. And I'm just dying for Spell Bound. So want to know how the series going to end. Cheer up, I was in the same boat as you until a couple of weeks ago.
The crying jag was that bad? Oh, boy. *gulps*
It's a wonderful blend of three and I'm so in love with the series already. Can't wait to get my hands on this second book.
Nope. I thought I was the only one. I'm actually surprised that I haven't already read her debut. *fist-bumps* *flashes Team Archer t-shirt*
YES. I've been dying since forever for this book. Every time I see the release date, I'm shocked into silence.
Pretty Crooked is supposed to be light and funny and I can use that every now and again. And Spell Bound.. don't get me started on how much I love the series. You're so lucky to be getting it from your library! I didn't think of that *considers* Starcrossed I have sitting here from the library actually and I have to read it soon, I heard it was fabulous. Same with Before I Fall.
Love him!! :)
Aww, I still haven't read Ruby Red, but I SO need to! Can't waittt. The series sound amazing. I really hope you'll enjoy Pretty Crooked more than me and enjoy all of the others--all are books I can't wait to read. :D
What?!? You must read Ruby Red. It's so wonderful. The time-travel and the romance is enough to keep me going through the series. :D Pretty Crooked is supposed to be so good. I'm looking forward to it! :)
*goes to buy Ruby Red* (Seriously, I've wanted it FOR FOREVER and finally have the money to splurge. Thank you for reminding me of it!)
GIRL. If you haven't read Before I Fall, and I take it from this post that you haven't...I have a paperback copy I will send you if need be. It is one of the most amazing books I've ever read. I know several people who weren't that fond of it but...I laughed, and I cried and it broke some things in me, and then put me back together. Lauren Oliver is amazing, and Before I Fall is, too. :)
YAY. I heart that book so bad. The wait for the sequel has been like receiving a stab wound in the same place over and over again right above the heart in a way that wouldn't ACTUALLY KILL ME. But you get my drift.
Molli... I KNOW. I'm terrible, I should've been done read Before I Fall, but I just haven't had the chance. If I don't read my library copy for this Friday, I may have to take you up on that offer. SO SWEET. Thanks <33 I heard people cried buckets, enough to fill up a thousand balloons. I love to cry, so this is a bonus really ;) Lauren Oliver ROCKS.
