Oh, ROARRRRRRRRRR, My Poor Sexy Aud

What the bleeding bodies is up with that cover though? LAME. (More) No spoilers!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------- CLICKSummary: It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable.
TO ADD TO GOODREADS
---------------------
I so couldn’t defend against any grief I got for flipping pages in this one while working the desk at my job. The familiar swirls and scenery are coolwhip but COME ON THE GUY. WHAT’S UP with THE GUY on the cover?!

In spite of the crappy vision of whoever didn’t say nay to this cover model in the middle of a catwalk-worthy strut, I want to dance naked among the flowers and deer in celebration of Veronica Rossi’s vision. Yes, I dig her so much I’d take off my clothes in the privacy of the meadow I’m imagining.

Ok, So What Had Happened Was: Aria was left hanging, virtually helpless, in the unknowns of the land outside the Pod which is her home. Barely any explanations, any excuses. She was left to defend herself against the powerful and deadly aether storms, the lurking cannibals, the savage tribes everyone in her world fears, and other assorted examples of unpleasantness. With the opportunity at hand, she takes a walk in search of her vanished mother and comes across a stranger instead—a savage called Perry who is also desperately trying to find someone. Instead of finding what they’d hoped for they uncover secrets and get answers they don’t like, while trying to defuse the growing mutual attraction and respect between them. Now with the stakes raised unfairly high, the only solution for both their people, both their needs is the Still Blue. But those with the means aren’t exactly forthcoming and things will get worse before they get better.

Ex: my poor, poor Roar. Okay, I promise you that’s as far as I will go with that.

Ah, how I missed the rich world Rossi has fabricated, with a single sky that moves and flows as the ocean once did, full of calm one moment and agitation the next, and a post-apocalyptic futuristic society divided by no more than selection on the brink of yet another apocalyptic-type deal. It’s sci-fi and fantasy all rolled into one, with two worlds contained within a bigger one that are so very different but are equally as desperate to survive what’s coming. That desperation, that climbing anxiety really bumped up the pressure and quickening pace of Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi, with the story pinning demands on Perry, Roar, and Aria alike.

There’s all this EMOTION bundled up in the turmoil of the plot. The main characters essentially divide and conquer for the sake of the survival of SO FREAKING MANY, but even knowing that doesn’t pull back the punch of emotional strain on each of them. They’re so brave, so strong, and yet they bear enough vulnerability to make their burdens felt beyond what’s read on the page. But Rossi is clever not to completely obliterate their chances and take away hope. THAT’S WHY I LOVE HER, DUH. We’re helpless, but our beloved trio isn’t down and out yet.

Perry. I’m happy you didn’t make me follow through with imaginary castration. Who knows how that would’ve tanked what little sanity remains mine?

Aria. You clever, silly girl. I’m happy you stopped taking ROMANCE THINGS for granted, but I’m more happy that you’ve proven you’re a thinker, fast and useful, and quite capable of contributing PLENTY.

Roar. *pats couch* Just take a seat right next to me, that’s it. I’LL MAKE IT ALL BETTER. I promise I won’t bite overly much. I won’t do anything unpleasant.

Thanks, Rossi, for making it all worth the wait. For giving us another solid book in the series, and making the anxiety mildly tolerable instead of SINFULLY INFURIATING.

SERIOUSLY.

I thank you.

I requested a copy of this from my local public library.

*sobs for Roar* *sobs for everyone*
I loved this book so much! Roar is a brilliant character, right? I'm so glad Rossi didn't feel the need to spin a romance between Roar and Aria, just for the sake of it. Friendship is a powerful thing, too.

I'm super desperate for the next book now. Gah! The wait!

Heh, oh dear! You really DO must love Veronica Rossi then! I still have to check out the first one, but I'm already PSYCHED to see for myself what all the fuss is about for this one if you're that much of a fan. And who this Roar person is. Though I may not want to know if it ends badly! But I'm all for emotional tension so this sounds pretty great for a sequel. Will probably wait until closer to the release date of the third book to read it so that I can avoid the terrible wait!

ASHER YOUR REVIEW IS INCREDIBLE AND I HAVE MISSED READING THEM SO SO SO SO MUCH AND SOMEBODY TEACH ME HOW TO GET A BETTER GRIP ON MY GOOGLE READER, PLEASE? Your brain is hilarious and beautiful and clever and I want to pluck it from your head and put it in my own so that one day both our brains will merge together and become one <3

"...with a single sky that moves and flows as the ocean once did, full of calm one moment and agitation the next... " <3

Also: ROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR! *cries uncontrollably*
Also x2: *snarls* I never want to read "Perry" and "castration" in the same sentence again. He was an idiot, but at least I can still make love to the idiot. I can't make love to the idiot if HE HAS NOTHING TO MAKE LOVE WITH.
Also x3: I still love you, Perry. JUST DON'T BE AN IDIOT AGAIN, OKAY?

Hehe, when this cover was revealed I totally pouted openly to Veronica Rossi about Perry not having blonde dreads. She griped about the inability to find just the right model for Perry--clearly she's aware of the issue (though he DID have a hair cut in this one). Also WE CAN HUG ROAR NOW PLEASE?! I'm so happy you finally had a chance to read this one and experience all the feels. So happy to see everyone coming into their own, and really can't wait for book 3...seriously...I may bribe someone for access...:P
