Waiting on Wednesday (5)

Hi, welcome to Paranormal Indulgence! WoW is hosted by Breaking the Spine every Wednesday, to share what we're all waiting for as far as novel releases and put emphasis on blogger interaction. Here for "Waiting on..." Wednesday, I've got 7 picks for you to browse through and totally fall in love with.

The Vampire Stalker
by Allison van Diepen
Point Publishing
June 1st 2011

"What if the characters in a vampire novel left their world--and came into yours?

Amy is in love with someone who doesn't exist: Alexander Banks, the dashing hero in a popular series of vampire novels. Then one night, Amy meets a boy who bears an eerie resemblance to Alexander. In fact, he IS Alexander, who has escaped from the pages of the book and is in hot pursuit of a wicked vampire named Vigo. Together, Amy and Alexander set out to track Vigo and learn how and why Alexander crossed over. But when she and Alexander begin to fall for each other, Amy wonders if she even wants him to ever return to the realm of fiction."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺

Thoughts: Sounds wonderful, not going to lie! Come on! Super hot (yeah, I'm taking the leap and assuming he's smokin') vampire breaks out from a paranormal fantasy novels featuring none other than the totally alluring vampire-species, how awesome is that! It's like one of us average bloggers/readers meeting our favorite fictional hottie in real life. *crosses fingers* I pray this one is fantastic!

Upcoming: Will be reviewing van Diepen's The Oracle Rebounds pretty soon...

Blood & Flowers
by Penny Blubaugh
HarperTeen
March 1st 2011

"Three years ago, Persia ran away from her drug-addict parents and found a home with the Outlaws, an underground theater troupe. With time, this motley band of mortals and fey, puppeteers and actors, becomes the loving family Persia never had, and soon Persia not only discovers a passion for theater but also falls in love with one of the other Outlaws. Life could not be more perfect.

Until an enemy makes an unfair accusation against the group and forces them to flee their world and hide in the neighboring realm of Faerie. But in Faerie, all is not flowers and rainbows. With bloodthirsty trolls, a hostile monarchy, and a dangerous code of magic, the fey world is far from the safe haven the Outlaws had hoped for....

Following up her critically acclaimed Serendipity Market, Penny Blubaugh has created a beautiful and mysterious world where anything can happen—especially what you least expect."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺

Thoughts: Tell me I'm not the only one at the edge of my seat! Runaways + Faeries + ooo... Outlaws =delicious! Can't wait! *rubs hands together*

Witches of East End (The Beauchamp Family #1)
by Melissa de la Cruz
Disney Hyperion
June 21st 2011

"The two novels will follow the lives of the Beauchamp girls, who live in the fictional town of North Hampton, as they struggle to stop an arch nemesis and restore the delicate balance between good and evil. De la Cruz will weave characters from her best-selling Blue Bloods young adult series into this new paranormal series for adults."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺

Thoughts: Any books of Melissa's are bound to be favorites of mine. That's just the way of it. Over years of reading her books (well, really just the Blue Bloods) I've come to trust her skill deeply, so I KNOW that her introduction to witches in the world of the Blue Bloods is going to be a MAZING! So what it's an adult paranormal series, since when has that stopped me before? The only stinky part is that I won't be able to review it on the blog...

Upcoming: Look out for Wolf Pact, coming April of twenty-12!!

Rosie
by Mariam Maarouf
Alexandria Library for Publishing & Dist.
January 17th 2011

"In life, nothing is the same as it seems. People create masks –identities – to hide who they really are –some for noble reasons, or nefarious ones, but only a tiny fraction because they must.
Alessandra and Damien, or Rosalie and Daniel, were once the Princess and Prince of La Pacifica until they were forced out of the beautiful island. Eight months flew by, and they finally began to settle in Alexandria, Egypt, when they found out that they didn’t leave their past behind them, and that they were both wanted urgently.
Dead."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺

Thoughts: My true motive for wanting to read this novel is because of its gorgeous cover! Such vivid color and elegance! I'd be blind to not see its potential!

Epic Fail
by Claire LeZebnik
HarperTeen
August 2nd 2011

"At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:

• As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.

• As the daughter of the new principal, new-girl-on-campus Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.

When Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long. Fans of Susane Colasanti (When It Happens), Polly Shulman (Enthusiasm), and, of course, Jane Austen will love finding out if Elise’s love life will be an epic win or an epic fail."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺

Thoughts: *gasp* It's been soo long since I've read a true romantic comedy! That's probably one of the reasons why I can't wait to read this one. I've never had it in me to read Pride and Prejudice through and through (the thick language just didn't do it for me, sadly) though I heard it's a great book... It has to be an epic win, has to!

Sometimes it Happens
by Lauren Barnholdt
Simon Pulse
July 12th 2011

"On the last day of her junior year, Hannah's boyfriend Ryan dumped her. Facing a summer of loneliness, Hannah turns to her best friend Ava for comfort. Ava does what BFFs do: she stays by Hannah's side...until it's time for Ava to head up to Maine for the summer. Also left behind is Ava's boyfriend, Noah, who's such a great guy he gets Hannah a job at the diner he waits tables at. Slowly, Hannah comes out of her funk thanks to Noah's good conversation and their fun times at the diner. But things get complicated when their friendship turns into attraction--and one night, into a passionate kiss. The novel opens on the first day of senior year; the day Hannah is going to see Ava, Ryan, and Noah all in one place. Over the course of the day secrets and betrayals are revealed, and alliances are broken and reformed. In the end, everyone is paired up once again, but not the way you might think..."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺

Thoughts: Does Lauren's MO pertain to complex character-driven novels? Because that's sure as hell what this one sounds like! I'm dying to read it. I wanna know what happens! *whines*

Upcoming: Keep an eye (or a leg, whichever you prefer) out for my review of Lauren's Watch Me.

Back When You Were Easier to Love
by Emily Wing Smith
Dutton Childrens Books
April 28th 2011

"What's worse than getting dumped? Not even knowing if you've been dumped. Joy got no goodbye, and certainly no explanation when Zan—the love of her life and the only good thing about stifling, backward Haven, Utah—unceremoniously and unexpectedly left for college a year early. Joy needs closure almost as much as she needs Zan, so she heads for California, and Zan, riding shotgun beside Zan's former-best-friend Noah. Original and insightful, quirky and crushing, Joy's story is told in surprising and artfully shifting flashbacks between her life then and now. Exquisite craft and wry, relatable humor signal the arrival of Emily Wing Smith as a breakout talent."

Anticipation Level: ☺☺☺ 1/2

Thoughts: I don't really know what to expect with this one! I'm getting that vibe that I'm going to be either a) emotional or b) hating this book. I'm leaning toward emotional, what do you guys think?

Thanks for stopping by the blog!

The Vampire Stalker not only sounds like something I can "sink my teeth into" but an enjoyable read that is unique to the genre, not the typical YA! Thanks Ash for finding me a new author and book to wish to read! My WoW
