Waiting on Wednesday (11)

Isn't he pretty? He's like my favorite super villa-hero ever!
Ollo! So, 2011 has been looking good, no? I've been getting in some pretty fuh-zine reads, i.e. Anna and the French Kiss, Waterfall, Timeless, Where She Went, The Vespertine, The Demon Trapper's Daughter, City of Fallen Angels, and Demonglass, among others (Haven't read the aforementioned books? Then, I give you full permission to skip this totally tedious and probably monotonous post to get with the program and get to these delicious reads. You can thank me later.) - most notably are the historical fictions; I discovered my love of YA HF this year.

And duuude there are some awesome spectacular-looking debuts coming out this year, and many of the covers are just outstanding and completely promising! I have a feeling that Waiting on Wednesday is going to get tons more exciting as the year progresses, fortunately for us bloggers and book lovers. I'm terribly eager to discover any and all books - especially debuts - that have somehow escaped my notice - by my own fault, of course. With that in mind, doubly check your comment to ensure that you've included a path to your WoW pick, BECAUSE I WANT MORE to add to my tbr pile, I promise. Okay? Cool beans.

Moving on. I present to you my four picks for this week:

Love conquers all, so they say. But can Cupid’s arrow pierce the hearts of the living and the dead—or rather, the undead? Can a proper young Victorian lady find true love in the arms of a dashing zombie?

The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria—a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. . .

I decided on spotlighting DEARLY, DEPARTED first because it is, without a doubt, out of all my picks, the one I'm most impatient to have in my hands. Like, I will be so disappointed if it falls under my unreasonably high expectations. Come on - high-tech society with customs and fashion modeled after the Victorian era - which, I will mention, is my absolute favorite time period in our world history - and a rampant virus that's causing zombies to erupt around, I'm assuming, the globe. AND my girl Nora Dearly falls for one of those zombies. How I could I not be at the edge of my seat for this one?? Furthermore, why aren't you if you aren't already? Not to mention, that that cover is superb.

Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie, the New York Times bestselling authors of the Wicked series, have created an entirely new trilogy with the passion of Twilight and the grandeur of Fallen. . .Keep Reading»»
Have you read my review for Crusade by these same wonderful authors? If you haven't, there's no pressure, seriously, but that's just a small glimpse into my feelings toward Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie's works. I read there WICKED series first - loved it. And then Crusade just sealed the deal, and they simultaneously became new additions to my list of favorite authors. Their writing is phenomenal, plot and world-building too! In WICKED it's witches, CRUSADE it's vampires, and NOW it's FREAKING WEREWOLVES. So, so, sooo excited!

The most tragic love story in history . . .

Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. . .

Title + Cover + Summary = Asher sold. When I found about JULIET IMMORTAL, the first thing I did was run to my mom to gush and to chat. We were going back and forth with all the possibilities for this story and where it could lead... I'm almost surprised no one, to my knowledge, has thought of this before. Though, my one hope is that when they say 'immortal' they don't actually mean vampire. I want something original... and that's kind of the vibe that I'm getting here. TELL ME, TELL ME, TELL ME MORE. Please! Can't wait 'til September, peeps.

And because I just reviewed both Wings and Spells by Aprilynne Pike, I thought I'd add in that I'm also waiting for

book three in the Laurel series, however much it might kill me. I'm just dying, above all else, to read the latest romantic development. Hopefully, it's the one I want.

AND WITH THAT, I shall conclude this week's 'Waiting on...' Wednesday.

Thanks for stopping by! And happy blogging! *waves, flashes peace sign*

I loved Debbie Viguie's books in the Once Upon a Time series, but I haven't read any of her books with Nancy Holder yet. They're all on my TBR though, so I'm super happy to see you rave about them.

Doesn't Juliet Immortal sound awesome!?! I hope she's not a vampire too, but if she is I guess that's ok as long as the rest is good.

I hate to say it, but, though this one does look nice, I loved your old blog design so much more *runs and hides*

Welcome back Asher! Love the new look!

I too am really excited for Dearly, Departed. At first I wasn't sure about Juliet Immortal, but I think it's growing on me. :)

Lisa - Yeah. I couldn't quite pick a theme to run with with.

And I really hope to enjoy them too!

ChelleyReads - I know right! I just hope that the spin is developed and it makes sense. I DO NOT want to be disappointed with this one.

Small Review - You HAVE got to give there books a shot. I love 'em, but then again, sometimes we like the same books, sometimes we don't. But, if you loved Debbie's earlier books, I'm sure you like her current ones. WICKED as I remember is a bit on the complicated side, yet it was engrossing. And CRUSADE felt extremely real, like I could visualize vampires taking over our reality real. Lol, as crazy as that sounds.

And yes! I don't want her to turn out to be vampire... At the same time, if she was, I could imagine it tastefully done. We'll just have to see.

Eh, everyone's a critic! Lol, just kidding. I went with a more simple look this time. I didn't want TOO much going on. I loved my old layout because of the elaborateness, but, sadly, I got tired of it. Plus, I'm going through a major boys' love phase, so... Come back! Don't run away! =O

Logan - Thanks, and I missed being around my blog. Especially since I'd read so many new books... I wanted to get it all out, talking about 'em and everything.

*high fives* I knew that there had to be someone in the same boat as me for DEARLY, DEPARTED! And I'm a bit nervous with JULIET IMMORTAL...

Thanks for stopping by, everyone!
