My Big, Fat TBR Pile (9) + Giveaway

My Big, Fat TBR Pile is a feature in which I showcase future reads that can be found on my to-read pile. It's like multiple "Waiting On..." Wednesdays rolled into one, showcasing a mix of books new, old, and upcoming. I typically do this type of post when I'm too excited for words and NEED to unleash a peek at my wishlist. Mayhap, you will find yourselves as excited for them as I am.

The following links provided will lead you to Goodreads.com. (What is Goodreads.com?)

 Most Wanted:

Hallowed (#2) by Cynthia Hand

HarperTeen, January 17, 2012

Highlight to read:

For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought. Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

Described by Richelle Mead as “utterly captivating,” Unearthly received outstanding reviews, garnered accolades from New York Times bestselling authors, and was named an Indie Next Pick. In this heart-wrenching sequel, Cynthia Hand expertly captures the all-consuming joy of first love—and the agony of loss. This beautifully woven tale will appeal to fans of Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpatrick, and Aprilynne Pike.

Oh, have you read Hunger Games, or are you re-reading? I'd have something fun and romantic and fluffy on standby for after you've read it :D

Everybody--rightly--raves about the series, but it's dark, disturbing, and left me feeling emotionally drained. I don't read dystopia often, for this reason.

Hallowed sounds AMAZING. I think I'll pick up the first book and start reading :D

I can’t wait to read Hallowed! The Australian cover is so pretty—Clara’s in the forest and it’s snowing and it’s wonderful!

I LOVED reading A Monster Calls (be sure to have tissues by your side), and I agree with the person above about The Hunger Games!

Sarah- I've NEVER read the Hunger Games :O And I've heard how crushing this series is, and despite my being emotionally sensitive with a tendency to get invested in books, I'm STILL going to read it. You betcha I'm going to have something fluffy and heartwarming on the side. And if you haven't read Unearthly you really should. I mostly recommend it for the Tucker factor(:

Lux- Lux! Long time no talk! It's so hard to balance blogging, hopping, and visiting! I'll be by soon!

So far I'm in love with all of the covers for the Unearthly series. Have you heard about the potential tv show on CW?

Yeah, Kiersten White was the one who actually recommended A Monster Calls, and she said it is a definite tear-jerker. So I'll be ready with my handy dandy Kleenex.

Angie- Well you should be excited, because man oh man Tucker will make you SUH-WOON.

Giselle- *waves* You lucky blogger, you(:

Leanna- You lucky blogger! Alas, I was declined :( I shall it enjoy it vicariously through you!

Lindsay- Who doesn't really? :D

Of course I will!

Traci- Hey, you're welcome, it was fun. And you should definitely get ready for Tuck the Man. *lol* I'm really playing him up, aren't I? But seriously, he would be my boyfriend ASAP!

Thanks for hitting up the blog, all!

Ooooh, Hallowed is so, so good! A Monster Calls is in my top ten from this year (and it made me UGLY cry) and The Hunger Games is just...no words. Okay, brilliant, for one. You're in for some great reads!

Thanks for stopping by! :)

I still have to read Unearthly but I've seen all the good reviews for it so Hallowed is a great pick. I haven't read the others either except for The Hunger Games which I loved. Now I just need to read the other two in that series.

WHAT THAT.....?! :O NO WAY. You haven't read The Hunger Games yet?! You NEED to read this asap or I shall make it my duty in life to drive you insane until you do. It is AMAZING. Definitely read before you see the movie in March! (because you *are* going to see the movie).

And, um, HI TUCKER :D So excited to read Hallowed. I can't wait to see what awesomeness Cynthia has in store next <3

Yes! I am dying to read Hallowed too! Great pick!

Mimi Valentine said...

Oh my gosh, YES!! I'm so excited to read Hallowed that it's actually a little insane -- Unearthly was one of my fave reads of the year, and I really need to get my next fix of Tucker! :)

And you have to read the Hunger Games soon, Asher!! I'm not even exaggerating when I say that it's one of the best dystopians since the beginning of time! ;)

Stephanie- Ah, don't tell me that! It just makes the wait THAT much worse): And I'm duly prepared to cry my eyes out with both A Monster Calls and the Hunger Games. & It was my pleasure!

Carrie- I actually just about Seers, but it should still be good. And I know *cries* that's why I want it (Hallowed) so badly!

Liz- I read a review from Jen @ Makeshift Bookmark, and since then I've been DYING to read this book. *high fives* for loving Unearthly!

Andrea- I know it makes the wait so much more agonizing the more good things I learn about it. And my pleasure(:

Angie- Oh, you are so lucky to work there! That's my plan once I get ready to hunt down a job *lol*

thetravelingreader- You know what the BIG APPEAL is? Tucker. I looove him so much and am so curious as to what's going to happen to him in Hallowed. How his and Clara's relationship are going to progress. And you are absolutely welcome!(:

Grace- I know! Alas, I was rejected ):

Manda- I second that deeply.

Jennifer- Right? I'd never thought I'd love the blue as much as the purple (purple being my favorite color!).

Brodie- BRING. IT. ON. You'll come to find that I can tolerate extreme amounts of insanity :P I'll read them so soon, I promise! Stop yelling at me *cries*

Oh, the way you said that makes me wish he was actually here. Hey! Maybe I can score a character interview... You and I both are going to pee in our pants from waiting so long and bearing the murderous anticipation.

Karen- No! You must read it, to fully appreciate this pick. LOOK at it! Isn't it wonderful? Don't you like part-angel stories full of ripped man-candy?

& my absolute pleasure it was (stopping by).

Celine- *high fives*

Giveaway Scout- I'll be sure to take a look!

Mimi- Join the club, we can be insane together(; I miss Tucker soooo much!

Everyone seems to think so. And from the glimpse I got the other day, I'd say it's already starting on the right track with me. Thank you, Mimi, for stopping by!

And same to all!
