Top Ten Tuesday (5)

Okay, so this triple T feature/weekly meme is hosted by the totally awesome, so have to follow The Broke and the Bookish! Yes, obviously, I am participating. *bows* Now, for a disclosure: This meme isn't meant to instigate any sort of problems or unhealthy debates, nor is it something authors or fans should take offense by. Top Ten Tuesday is just another way to spread the word about books, and how much they are loved.

This week's topic is Top Ten Bookish/Bloggish Resolutions, which calls for bloggers/readers from all walks of the blogosphere to list ten things they resolve to do concerning their reading/blogging life.

1) To be less concerned with my follower count -I think every blogger at some point or another starts getting anxious about their follower count when they see how other blogs basking in success. I've noticed myself slipping into that, so my focus right now is not to let myself obsess over it and continue blogging for me and the enjoyment of others who happen upon Paranormal Indulgence.

2) Refrain from scheduling all future reads -I'm usually a spontaneous book blogger as far as posting goes. But, sometimes, when the planets and stars align themselves, I plan ahead. But, I've noticed that planning what I'm going to read in advance kinda takes away from the enjoyment. So, rather than plan specifically what my next read is going to be, instead I'm going to plan to read a book each day.

3) Completing the challenges I've entered into -I'm actually working on a challenges page to display the challenges I'm partaking in... I most especially want to complete Goodreads 2011 Reading Challenge which I've signed up with a goal of 150 books to read this year. Status: 2/150 books, 1%

4) Be more socially active in the blogosphere -I need to comment more and be more proactive about checking out other blogs. How can I ever expect to make new friends?

5) Get a professionally finished, paid layout -Hopefully I'll save some money to pay for a new layout, professionally and stylishly designed.

6) Hopefully, try again to purchase a domain name for the blog -After the bad incident I had when I tried to purchase one, I'm surprised that I still want to try it again, but I do. Doesn't www.paranormalindulgence.com  have a nice ring to it?

7) Read more YA historical romance -After The Vespertine I want to delve into YA historical romance/fiction more often. Hopefully all of 'em have some qualities similar to The Vespertine.

8) Find a source of income to purchase new books -I want to find a job and buy my own books without relying on other means to get them. How nice would it be to purchase more books in the month?

9) Get better at tackling my ever growing reading list -I wish I more time in the day to read more! I love snuggling up in my covers and just reading 'til the day is done, or near done. And I don't get to do that anymore. *sigh* Hopefully, that'll change.

10) Continue to keep to my personality when writing my reviews and other blog posts -I don't want to shift into stiff mode and sound boring. I'd like to continue writing entertaining reviews.

Thanks for reading!

What do you have to say to that?

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Resolve To Read in 2011

Okay, so this triple T feature/weekly meme is hosted by the totally awesome, so have to follow The Broke and the Bookish! Yes, obviously, I am participating. *bows* Now, for a disclosure: This meme isn't meant to instigate any sort of problems or unhealthy debates, nor is it something authors or fans should take offense by. Top Ten Tuesday is just another way to spread the word about books, and how much they are loved.

ANYWAY, this week's topic: Books I Resolve To Read in 2011, which begs the question what 2010 novels did you not finish reading last year that you plan to finish this year?

1) Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: I loved Oliver's upcoming 2011 release, Delirium, and I'm super curious to read what I'm assuming is her 2010 debut. So many people stated that they simply adored (loved) this book and I want to find out for myself if I'll feel the same way.

2) Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves: I've heard that this novel is basically insane! Hannah is what really intrigues me the most, her story and her involvement in the paranormal. I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

3) Captive by Carrie Jones: Or more correctly her entire Need series... The Need series has been the talk of the town for quite some time, and I'm super curious to see what the big deal is! Hopefully, I'll get my wish soon...

4) Bright Young Things by Anna Godberson: When an author can successfully take me into the past and make me enjoy it, then I know I'll definitely love the book throughout. I've read dozens of good reviews as far as this novel goes, and I'm hoping that I enjoy being taken to the Roaring Twenties and keep me reading with that mystery that's going on in the book.

5) TEMPESTUOUS by Lesley Livingston: OhmyGodOhmyOhmyGod! I'm still going crazy for this book's release... Livingston really made a fan out of me with her last book, Darklight, and now I'm riding on the edge of anxiousness and anticipation, (impatiently) waiting for my local library to turn up with the book.

6) The Sapphire Talisman by Brenda Pandos: As well as the first book, The Emerald Talisman. I actually discovered these novels at an event hosted by La Femme Readers and Confessions of a Bookaholic, and now I'm going crazy looking for it somewhere where I can borrow it... It sounds so good and I have a thing for vampires...

7) Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr: I've read books 1-3 and I haven't had the chance to dive into the fourth one just yet.

8) Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead: I used to be such a huge, huge fan of the Vampire Academy series, then I don't know what happened when the fifth book popped up but I just didn't bother to go out of my way to read it. (Maybe I was going through a reading funk of some sort.) Now, I'm excited as ever to finally have the chance to read it (more on that later in the week).

9) Glimmerglass by Jenna Black: I mentioned earlier in the week during my feature PiC: Blue that I wanted to read this one as I had listed its sequel under the theme. I'm fascinated by the synopsis and I'm hoping it's as good as it sounds.

10) Hourglass by Claudia Gray: Actually all three books after the first one. I know I mentioned in my very first top ten list that the Evernight series was under Books I Will Never Read, because I was too scared of the outcome for this couple to read on, but now, I must admit that I can bear it no longer and must read the latest books. Hopefully soon. ;)

Thanks for reading!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I'll Never Read

Okay, so this triple T feature/weekly meme is hosted by the totally awesome, so have to follow The Broke and the Bookish! Yes, obviously, I am participating. *bows* Now, for a disclosure: This meme isn't meant to instigate any sort of problems or unhealthy debates, nor is it something authors or fans should take offense by. Top Ten Tuesday is just another way to spread the word about books, and how much they are loved.

ANYWAY, this week's topic: Top Ten Books I'll Never Read. Neat!

(1) The Vampire Diaries Series: VD fans don't give me that funny look! I'm Team Damon and Delena all the way! I watch the show religiously. But, reasons why I won't read the books has to do with a pact I foolishly made with a friend. And the promise was that while we both watch the Vampire Diaries show, neither of us could read the books for fear of knowing what would happen before either of us got to watch. Only later do I come to find out that the show is BASED off of the book series. *sigh* See, I always keep my promises.

(2) Dear John: The reason I'm staying away from this one is because of what a friend told me. Now I know you really shouldn't go off of what a friend tells you about a book, but she spoiled it for me. *possible spoiler* She warned me away from both the movie and the book, because in the movie the main couple do not stay together. I have a very, very sensitive heart and it wouldn't be able to take such a revelation after taking all that time to read the book.

(3) Edgar Allan Poe's Poetical Works: I read one of his poems and had nightmares for weeks. Ever since then I've shied away from his pieces. *shrugs*

(4) Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma: I won't read it, not because of the fact that incest is the main topic, but because I'm afraid of how the ending will turn out. Like I said, my heart's fragile and it breaks easily. I was so desperate, I even had my mom read the very last few pages to see if I'd be able to handle it. She said nothing, only shook her head indicating 'no'.

(5) Amityville Horror by Jay Anson: I am deathly afraid of this book. I will not even look at it funny. Nor will I touch the movie. I won't watch or read it...ever!

(6) Twilight, Book 1 by Stephenie Meyer: The thing is, I began reading Twilight AFTER I saw the movie. And I generally never read a book once I've seen it in movie format. It may seem silly, but it's just that way for me. Once I can afford it, I'll definitely buy it. And I may someday read it, but certainly not now.

(7) The Last Song: I won't read this one for basically the same reason I won't read Twilight. I watched the movie, was touched by it immensely, but I won't take the time to sit down and read it when I just watched the movie. *shrugs twice*

(8) The Other Boleyn Girl: It was sad enough as a movie. I felt wretched after watching it. How am I supposed to sit through an entire reading?

(9) Chronicles of Narnia: I tried reading the first two chapters and that didn't work out so hot. I check out the movies and I'm blown away. Which do you think I'm gonna choose?

(10) Evernight Series: This may change, but I'm soooooo scared to read on. I'm so completely in love with the relationship between Lucas and Bianca that I'm afraid it'll be ruined to my knowledge if I keep reading this series. The problem is I'm so very tempted. I don't know what to do about this one! Gah!

Ahem, stay tuned for NEXT WEEK'S TOPIC: Top Ten Fictional Crushes by...Jen, if I'm not mistaken. This is an awesome meme to get involved in, so head over to the Broke and the Bookish and participate! Make sure to sign the Mr. Linky and comment. (:
