Of course, none of this would even be possible without Kristi @ The Story Siren, whose vlogs serve as a constant inspiration for me on a daily basis when book blogging.
Want to participate? Well, okay, just click this http://www.thestorysiren.com/ and you're all set. Scroll down and you'll see the In My Mailbox post of the week, with a vlog at its center and a Mr. Linky below, which you must sign. Please, please watch the vlog. They're always really good. And take a peek at her book shelf in the background while you're at it. It's so, so gorgeous. You'll see.
Anyway, enough chat-chit, time to share my findings...
Library Pick-Ups!
If you happened to read my In My Mailbox +Vlog (8) from last week, you'll see that towards the end of my video, I said that I was going to limit the books I borrow from the library to a mere three books. And I've kept true to that promise.
It was so hard to pick during this trip. They had other great novels such as Falling for Anything and Fixing Delilah, among others, brand new and out on display. But, these three called to me the most.
Notice that Choker and Across the Universe are both 2011 Debut novels for all you Story Siren Debut Author Challenge participants.
Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Sounds very cute with an intriguing romance.
Choker by Elizabeth Woods
The cover is really what caught my eye. It's so pretty.
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
A little scared to read this one. I've heard so many mixed reviews.
AND earlier this morning, I received a phone call from my local library and they've informed me that Tempestuous by Lesley Livingston has arrived! *squeals* I told the librarian I 'd be there on Monday. :)
Awesome Surprises!
I have an amazing mom! I know you're thinking: Cool, cool. But what does that have to do with IMM, Asher? Well, not only is my mom amazing but she's incredibly supportive. Particularly of my book addiction. She randomly surprises me with bookish gifts when the opportunity presents itself.
She suddenly comes home the other day and hands me a package. I tear it open only to find myself face-to-face with Meghan (the heroine on the cover) on the cover of the unbelievably wonderful and epic The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. I screamed, jumped up and down. Now, my Iron Fey series is completely up to date... and the cover is so beautiful and pinkish! Love it!
Now then, what you see in the two pictures on the right has to do with my brand spanking new Amazon Kindle! That was part II of Mom's surprise. Yep. There it is and all it's glorious wonder. And the skin portrays how I feel when I'm reading, how mystical and wondrous everything is. I love my new Kindle! It's absolutely wonderful.
Ah, but we aren't done yet.
Free Kindle Goodies
As soon as my kindle and I had some alone time together, I instantly went to amazon.com to search for some free books. I found some pretty awesome ones too!
I actually read Arousing Love and was totally moved and captivated by it. I was skeptical because it promotes some intense religious messages. But, it genuinely gave me a new perspective, a new outlook on religion as a whole. And the love was just downright sweet. I'm not sure if I'm reviewing this one though. Probably not. And I jumped at the chance to get The Apothecary's Daughter because it intrigued me. Plus, I get to use it for the YA Historical Fiction Challenge hosted over at YA Bliss.
I picked up Dreaming Anastasia for that gorgeous cover (it's so dark and haunting), next because I love the whole concept behind the story pertaining to the Romanovs who were killed when Tzar Nicholas was overthrown by the Bolsheviks. I learned so much about them in my Economics class, and the story fascinated me. There's a sequel to this that is not free, Haunted by Joy Preble. Another pretty cover to stare at. And Beasts and Bff's by Shannon Delany is a prequel story to her 13 to Life series. I loved 13 to Life and am excited to learn more!
Retro Demonology by Jana Oliver
Remedial Magic by Jenna Black
These novels are both prequels, the first being a prequel to Jana Oliver's Demon Trapper's series. The first title in what I'm assuming is a series, The Demon Trapper's Daughter (UK -Forsaken). Which looks freakin' awesome, can't wait to get my hands on a copy! And the second is a prequel to Jenna Black's Faeriewalker trilogy/series (?), the first title being Glimmerglass, the second Shadowspell, and the third to be released is Sirensong. I'm DYING to read these too!
Reaper by Rachel Vincent
Love at First Flight by Marie Force
Reaper is an exclusive novella as an e-book, basically it's a bonus story about Tod, one of the characters in the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent. I stopped being a fan of the series after stopping halfway through the second book. But it was free and I really like Tod when I read about him, so I thought, why not? And that's all for my YA titles, so far anyway. And the last on my list of free ebooks is an adult novel, Love at First Flight, which I had to get because I love the premise behind it. And it's very, very good so far!
Well, that's all I got for In My Mailbox! Hope you all have a wonderful, safe weekend and happy reading!
Are you perhaps interested in schools for paranormal teens who are in need of guidance? A school where mysterious killings of students start emerging? Where a young girl must now face punishment at this school for previously exposing magic to the normal world? If the answer's yes, check out my Review: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins post! Or maybe you'd like to see my answer for the Blog Hop hosted by Crazy-For-Books. I also have a few posts coming up like: Review: Firelight & My Big, Fat TBR pile!
