I wanted to love this story. I swear, I did. I was so looking forward to reading HALO that I was so shocked to find that I wasn't enjoying it as much as I would normally. Bethany, the heroine, was okay. I couldn't connect with her as much as I desired to. Her brother and sister, who are angels, by the way, shockingly enough, bored me. They were all about duty, and their personalities - if they had any to speak of - didn't shine through, resulting in a failure to captivate me. I was more awestruck by their looks than anything else. The writing and pacing of this novel was tedious, so the whole time I was reading I kept taking breaks because of it. The only time things really picked up for me was when Bethany and Xavier's romance blossoms. But, after awhile, even their relationship stopped doing anything for me. And by the time the true antagonist popped up, I was already bored with the novel... I kept thinking that maybe HALO could've done without at least a hundred or so pages... In short, this highly anticipated reading experience fell flat to my expectations and my overall tastes. :(
